Software Approach

1. Enter modulus of elasticity, ultimate tensile strength, and m value, fatigue
strength index  C_o  for material

2. Sample  real time strain from strain gage

3. Multiply signal by the materials modulus of elasticity to get real time stress

4. Put the stress signal through peak and trough detection a sub VI developed by Lai Wei to filter the data for unnecessary data points

5. Put the filtered signal through rainflow cycle counting a sub VI developed by Lai Wei to obtain count, stress amplitude range, & mean stress

6. After obtaining rainflow results use Equation 8 to calculate damage per cycle

7. Add together all damage values for each cycle in order to have a cumulative real time value for total damage
